2027 Small Business Marketing Calendar: Key Dates + Ideas

Key takeaways

  • •Plan each date three times: the promotion about six weeks out, the customer notice about two weeks out, and a short reminder on the day.
  • •Christmas Day 2027 is a Saturday. US federal offices observe it on Friday 24 December, and the UK has substitute bank holidays on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December.
  • •Independence Day is a Sunday in 2027, so the US federal holiday is Monday 5 July. Juneteenth is a Saturday, observed Friday 18 June.
  • •UK clocks go back on Sunday 31 October 2027, which is also Halloween. US clocks change on 14 March and 7 November.
  • •National Small Business Week 2027 runs 2 to 8 May, and Small Business Saturday falls on 27 November, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The short answer: a 2027 marketing calendar for a small business needs three layers. First, the public holidays where you trade, because they change your hours. Second, the gifting and seasonal days your customers shop around. Third, your own dates: slow months, launches, price reviews and your anniversary. Put each date on the calendar three times: the promotion about six weeks ahead, the customer notice about two weeks ahead, and a short reminder on the day.

This calendar is for salons, gyms and studios, shops and boutiques, trades and home services, makers, cafes and small agencies in the US and UK. Sources for every date are listed at the end.

How to use this calendar

Work backwards from each date with three lead times:

  1. About 6 weeks out: plan the offer. Decide what you will run (a gift card push, a booking block, a bundle, a class), order stock and brief staff.
  2. About 2 weeks out: tell customers. Post the offer, update your Google Business Profile hours and send any email.
  3. On the day: remind and thank. One short post or story, and a thank-you message to people who came in.

If you only do step 3, it is usually too late for customers to plan around you.

2027 quirks that change your opening hours

A few 2027 holidays land on weekends, which moves the day off and confuses customers. Post your hours early for these:

  • Christmas on a Saturday. US federal offices observe Christmas on Friday 24 December. Across the UK, Christmas Day and Boxing Day move to substitute bank holidays on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December, which gives many workers a four-day break from Saturday to Tuesday.
  • New Year's Day 2028 on a Saturday. OPM lists Friday 31 December 2027 as the federal holiday, so New Year's Eve is a day off for federal staff.
  • Fourth of July on a Sunday. The federal holiday is Monday 5 July, which makes a long weekend for summer offers.
  • Juneteenth on a Saturday. Observed on Friday 18 June.
  • Easter and the clocks on the same weekend in the UK. Good Friday is 26 March, the clocks go forward on Sunday 28 March and Easter Monday is 29 March. Send a reminder to anyone booked early on Sunday or Monday.
  • Halloween and UK clocks going back on the same Sunday. From Sunday 31 October, evenings get dark an hour earlier, so plan timings and lighting for Halloween events.
  • Valentine's Day on a Sunday. Shops that close on Sundays should push gift cards and pre-orders on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February.

Month-by-month ideas by business type

Use these as prompts, then keep only what fits your margins and staff.

  • January: gyms and studios run a new-term or "come back" offer for lapsed members. Salons fill quiet weeks with a midweek booking deal. Shops invite holiday customers back, as in our repeat customer plan. Agencies and bookkeepers remind UK self-employed clients about 31 January.
  • February: florists, salons, cafes, bakeries and makers sell Valentine's pre-orders and gift cards. Trades publish late-winter maintenance checklists.
  • March: gyms and salons send a clocks-change reminder for early appointments. Shops plan Easter windows. Trades start spring booking lists.
  • April: a good month for a price review before summer. If prices are going up, use our price increase announcement templates and give customers notice.
  • May: US businesses share an owner story during National Small Business Week (2 to 8 May). Salons, spas, florists and gift shops build Mother's Day bundles for 9 May. UK businesses plan two long weekends.
  • June: Father's Day (20 June) for barbers, tool shops, gyms and makers. Summer class timetables for studios.
  • July and August: summer hours, holiday cover and back-to-school offers. Trades push outdoor jobs before autumn.
  • September: autumn class launches, new-season stock and new-client offers after Labor Day.
  • October: Halloween ideas for shops, cafes and salons, plus holiday gift card prep. UK evening-hours posts before the clocks go back.
  • November: gift card launch, a margin-safe Black Friday offer if you run one, and a Small Business Saturday plan for 27 November.
  • December: holiday hours, last-minute gift cards, the substitute bank holidays and a January preview email.

For the weeks in between, our Instagram post ideas list gives you 50 posts that do not depend on a holiday.

A one-hour monthly planning routine

On the last working day of each month, block one hour:

  1. Look six weeks ahead. Which dates from the table above fall in that window? Pick one or two that matter to your customers and ignore the rest.
  2. Choose one offer per date. One clear offer beats five small ones.
  3. Write the notices now. Hours notice, one post, one email or text to existing customers who opted in.
  4. Update your listings. Google Business Profile hours, website banner and booking page, so AI assistants and search show the right hours.

Where GBot fits

GBot reads your website or Instagram during setup, including your products, prices, hours and tone. Give it the dates you picked for the month, and Mia drafts the posts, emails and hours notices in your voice, Leo makes matching graphics, and Kai researches what businesses near you are running. You review everything and post or send it yourself. GBot does not schedule posts, send messages or connect to your calendar.

Frequently asked questions

What dates should be on a 2027 small business marketing calendar?

Start with the public holidays where you trade (US federal holidays from OPM, UK bank holidays from GOV.UK), then add the clock changes, the big gifting days your customers care about (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, the Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas), and small business dates such as National Small Business Week (2 to 8 May 2027) and Small Business Saturday (27 November 2027). Then add your own dates: your anniversary, slow months, launches and price reviews.

When is Small Business Saturday 2027?

Saturday 27 November 2027. American Express, which founded the day in 2010, holds it each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and OPM lists Thanksgiving 2027 as Thursday 25 November.

When is National Small Business Week 2027?

The US Small Business Administration says National Small Business Week 2027 runs from 2 to 8 May 2027.

When do the clocks change in 2027?

In the UK, GOV.UK lists Sunday 28 March 2027 for clocks going forward and Sunday 31 October 2027 for clocks going back. In most of the US, daylight saving time runs from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday of November under federal law, which is 14 March and 7 November 2027.

Which 2027 holidays fall on a weekend?

Juneteenth (Saturday 19 June, observed by federal offices on Friday 18 June), Independence Day (Sunday 4 July, observed Monday 5 July) and Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December, observed Friday 24 December). Across the UK, Christmas Day and Boxing Day move to substitute bank holidays on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December. New Year's Day 2028 is a Saturday, so US federal offices observe it on Friday 31 December 2027.

Can GBot plan my 2027 marketing calendar?

It can help you fill it in. Tell GBot your business type and the dates you care about, and Mia can draft the posts, emails and holiday-hours notices for each date, Leo can make matching graphics, and Kai can research what businesses near you run at those times. GBot drafts only: it does not post, schedule or send for you, and it does not connect to your calendar.
